Ingredients:
8 ounces of uncooked elbow macaroni
6 cups of shredded sharp cheddar or mild cheese
3 cups of milk
1 stick of butter (1/4 cup of butter for less saturated fat)
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup bread crumbs (optional)
2 Tablespoons Butter
salt and pepper (season to liking)
Directions:
1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain.
2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in all-purpose flour. Add milk to saucepan slowly, stirring constantly. When sauce is thick enough, season with salt and pepper then add in shredded cheese and cook at low heat until cheese is melted. Next, stir in macaroni to pan (if preferred put macaroni in casserole dish and pour sauce over it). Stir Well.
3. Melt butter or margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and brown. Spread over the macaroni and cheese to cover. Sprinkle with your choice of seasoning (Be Creative!).
4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20- 30 minutes. Serve.
