      • If you haven't had the chance to experience the story yourself then I recommend reading my first impression review instead. [The Quarry First Impression]

Now before we get into the final review please be aware that I have only done one full playthrough and a portion of the last few chapters to see if I could achieve a different ending. I'm a gamer like everyone else so even though I mean to be professional in the way I review my gameplay, my review should not be taken as a final say. I am solely speaking on my gameplay experience.

As I have mentioned in my first impression the pacing of this game was a slow burn for me. Now having completed the game, I still feel this way. I'm not saying that the game was boring but aside from the quick react decisions the characters continued to navigate in a very slow pace throughout the story. Movies don't even play out this slowly but I can respect the direction Supermassive may have been going for. The slow build ups and tension kind of made me pay more attention to the environment and areas the camp counselors where in, so I can appreciate that.

As I progressed through the story some decisions aka paths I choose were confusing to make but exciting. There were so many moments that I could have been impulsive in the characters decision making but I have taken an untraditional route to where most players probably have done the most common thing. For example, I had an opportunity to shoot Bobby with Kaitlyn but I allowed Bobby to throw the vial of blood on her instead. There were a handful of events like this where I did not make the characters fight back. I based my decision on this with the clues and hints that were discovered along the way. Even though the local characters were portrayed as savage aggressive hunters, I believed there was a reason behind the things they were doing. Overall, the dramatic portions of the story I tried my best to keep my cool and really make some clear choices.

Now for the story itself I felt like I was watching one of those classic horror films. While majority of the characters were really likeable Ryan, Emma and Jacob were the more annoying to me. What's crazy is, I really liked Ryan in the beginning but his personality very dismissive about the danger they were in. Even seeing things with his own two eyes that was abnormal, he refused to accept the horror they were really dealing with. Emma on the other hand was just too confident and arrogant for my liking. Even in the middle of danger she is always making things about her. Emma also barely showed empathy towards her fellow camp counselors. Jacob was.........Jacob. His character was pretty consistent with his end goal to be with Emma but his choices put him and everyone in front of danger. As for all the characters, there have been conversations among them that to me had NOTHING to do with the current situation they were all facing. In fact, it just seemed like that times they were more concerned about their petty relationship assumptions versus the body count piling up on there end.

Last, the gameplay experience was eh. I don't know what happened to the jumpscare factor but it was not there for me. When I think of horror games, usually I expect myself to be screaming of jumping out of my seat, but nothing really made me clinch my butt cheeks. I also experienced a few bugs and glitches during my gameplay.

There has been a joke among our community that I should proudly call myself the Bug Queen. Its so funny that I 100% expected to deal with some sort bug or glitch during my gameplay. Check out one of my highlights below.

As for my rating it hasn't changed. The game provided a good experience but it could use some improvements. One that rewind feature needs to be patched and fixed. After making a second attempt I may as well just accepted the first playthrough for me. If anything I would save more time with just playing the movie mode option instead.
