I understand valid reasons why rebranding may be frowned upon in the online space but please be careful of the biased impressions other influencers may push. Not all rebranding is bad and I have listed some reasons why I strongly feel this way. To start, some of us just need a fresh start & are redefining what we have & can bring to the masses. - Kaylee
In today's social media, it's rapidly changing and constantly growing. In retrospect, this also means that content creators need to constantly adapt in order to remain relevant and be aware of social changes. So how do we as content creators do that? Well, one-way creators can adapt and stay relevant is through rebranding. Rebranding involves changing the name, logo, or overall image of your brand. While it can be a challenging and scary process, rebranding can offer you several benefits. In this blog post, we'll only explore three reasons why rebranding is a good thing.
Rebranding Can Bring in New Viewers & Supporters
First, being a content creator today is a highly competitive market. It's essential that you stay relevant and fresh in the minds of your supporters. Rebranding can help creators do just that. By creating a new image, you can attract a new audience and generate renewed interest in your products or services. Rebranding can also signal to potential supporters that you are evolving and adapting to meet industry needs, which can help build trust and confidence in your brand. For example, when I began streaming, I discredited my LadyKaylee brand by broadcasting NBA 2K all the time. Whenever I switched over to new content my viewership would decrease and change because no one from the 2K community was really trying to watch me slay raid bosses on Final Fantasy Online. In other words, I was not taken seriously as a variety content creator. Also, the campaigns that I launched did not do that great because most of my followage was based in the 2K community.
Rebranding Can Differentiate a Creator from its Competitors aka Peers
Rebranding can also help a creator separate themselves from their creator peers. By creating a unique and memorable brand image, you can stand out in crowded social media spaces. A strong brand image can also help you build a community and loyal supporters. It always pays to be you!For example, just choosing a name that NO ONE else is using can set the tone of how different you are from others. Not only that, I believe it will send a strong message to your audience to not dare compare you to others.
Rebranding Can Signal Change in a Positive Direction
Rebranding can also signal a positive change in a creator's direction or values. It can be an opportunity for you to pivot your content or emphasize a new goal or vision you have. This can be particularly important for creators that may struggle to connect with their current audience, have faced negative trauma, or have dealt with public embarrassment at the hands of bad people online. For example, I was falsely accused of hacking a big YouTuber/Twitch Influencer channel during my live stream ON MY BIRTHDAY! Whenever I posted content on my channels or went live, harassment followed me. The rebrand signaled a change in direction for me the moment I faced public trauma and criticism. Even when my name was cleared, mentally I never truly recovered from the public humiliation that was inflicted on me. The new branding emphasized me to take control of my narrative and truly provide a safe and fun space for my supporters to be.
In conclusion, rebranding can be a powerful change for creators looking to attract new supporters, differentiate themselves from their peers, or signal a change in a positive direction. While it can be a scary and challenging process, a successful rebrand can pay off in the long run.
